Neighborhood

TREASURE ISLAND:
The 979 Crew just loves this seaside and bayside community flanked by Galveston Island on one end and Surfside Beach on the other. On your drive, stop by the grocery store for your favorite grillables and beverages, make a pit stop at the bait shop to fill your bait bucket (great fishing in TI), and/or place a call to make arrangements to rent a golf cart - this is a very golf cart friendly spot. Enjoy the Gulfside's uncrowded pedestrian beach (no cars allowed for 300 yards but golf carts welcomed) where you can setup your group's camp for the day on the beach to build sandcastles, jump in the surf, find unique shells and sand dollars, boogie board, shore & surf fish and build an evening bonfire. Or if preferred, utilize the available launch for your boat or kayak or head to the fishing pier on the bayside. Some much to do so little time!

Great Stay to get away from it all, great sunrise!

Thank you for the 5-stars, and we're thrilled to hear you had a great seaside (and sunrise) stay, Jaime! The 979 Crew would love to host you and your group again!

We had a nice stay. The house was very clean, and the location is amazing. It was perfect for relaxing. The house could use some updates to the exterior. And the refrigerator and freezer weren’t cooling adequately during our stay. We called for maintenance, and they immediately sent someone out to look at it. They tested the temperature and said it was close to normal. But it was still off because the freezer would not even freeze water. They do have a separate deep freeze that we were able to use. Aside from that, it was a good vacation in a quiet neighborhood. The bird watching was top notch!

We're so glad to hear you had a relaxing stay and enjoyed the peaceful Treasure Island neighborhood—and yes, the bird (and dolphin) watching from this home really is something special, Candace. We also appreciate your kind words about the cleanliness and our prompt maintenance response. We're sorry the fridge didn’t perform as expected during your visit, despite testing within range. We hope the extra deep freeze was helpful. We also appreciate your note about the exterior and are actively planning updates with the owner. We hope to host you again soon for another quiet escape!

This house is situated in a lovely, friendly neighborhood and is directly on the water. We loved sitting on the porch in the early morning and the evening. We went from May 29-June 1st, and both mornings there were dolphins right in front of the house from 5am- 6:30 am. They were so close we could hear them before we could see them. That was just amazing. The house had a very clean kitchen and very clean bedrooms. However, this will not be the location for anyone who does not love dogs....all three couches were covered in dog hair, so we just put blankets over them to sit on. The house does look like the pictures, just a little older than the online pictures. This is an older house that looks its age and is in need of some updates, but was still very nice to stay in. Definitely felt safe and peaceful at this location. The team that owns this house does a very good job of keeping you updated via text and email. Check-in went exactly like they said it would. Very easy to work with!

Your experience sounds just lovely Nikki, we're delighted the dolphins put on their show for you. This is quite the unique spot! Thank you for the compliments, tips for future guests, and being such a great group to host. This is a pup friendly home, but there still shouldn't excess hair on the furnishings, and we apologize for that. These particular couches are made of a challenging material "to groom" and lint in general seems to be our enemy with them. We will pass your feedback along to our housekeeping team and this home's owner. Perhaps they are due for a permanent cover or replacement. We're delighted you appreciated this peaceful front row spot. We would love to host you again!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. This home was infested with ants. Upon arrival, there were hundreds & hundreds of ants in the kitchen (coming out of the walls, on floors, covering countertops), we walked into the bedrooms where there were hundreds of ants covering the beds, as well as the couches. We immediately reached out to management of the property, and did not get a response until the following day. When we did get a response, they did not believe us and told us to put out an ant trap that was under the sink (clearly they knew they had an ant problem). The ant trap did nothing. That was the only thing management could do for us… their words. We couldnt put our baby on the ground due to the ants and had ants crawling on her while we were holding her. We were more frustrated with the lack of respect and courtesy from the owner, as we understand things like this can happen. We got nothing but hostility. Feel free to email me at Lauren.hostman (at g mail) for pictures/videos of the infestation

We are truly sorry you felt it was a horrible experience and would never want that for any guest. Our team did not intend any disrespect, and we apologize if you perceived it any differently. As we both know, however, this is blown entirely out of proportion, and if it was bad as you say, you would not have stayed-bottom line. As for ant bait, it is at every home as proactive measure, as ants can show up randomly here on the coast especially during the summer during a drought. They climb up pipes and into the house seeking water. While a nuisance, they do not harm anyone, and the good news is the baits are successful and take care of them almost immediately (in which the did). And that is what the team shared with you (not "nothing can be done"). But, you know all that. Again, we're sorry you did not enjoy your stay more, and certainly the ants were not invited guests, but you were also refunded generously even though you chose to stay. As a result, this review is unjustified and we, as well as the owner, also feel disrespected. It is an unfortunate situation for all.

My husband and I stayed for the month of January I worked remotely and never had issues with wifi. The house was perfect for the two of us and our dog duke who loved to sit out on the deck all day and night. Enjoyed many sunrises and a few big storms. Bring a blanket if you come in January as there are no extras. There are plenty of pillows though I think I counted 15. The neighborhood was pretty quiet this time of year we walked to the beach many of times to look for shells and we had it to ourselves. Tv worked great for rainy days and my husband is a vet so when we drove into Galveston we did not have to pay the $2 bridge fee that probably saved us $70 bucks since we were there for so long. Nearest big grocery store was 25 minutes away. All appliances worked great only problem was the right side of kitchen the electrical would trip so we had to move the coffee pot to the other side of kitchen. Beds were very cozy. Great relaxing get away.

Overall, it was great! The house felt a bit older to me than the pictures depicted, but that is expected with a house so close to the water. The AC did not work as well as we had hoped, so it felt like the sheets were wet all night. I felt very safe in that neighborhood. The food trucks across the highway were absolutely amazing!! I would definitely stay there again. If you are afraid of large crashing waves coming close to the house, then stay somewhere else LOL

It was a little slice of Heaven for us, even with the wind keeping us inside. I love that the water was right in front of the house. At times, I could feel the spray off the rocks that lined the pavement.

Thought we were getting a quiet beach neighborhood. I know homeowners not responsible but there was dump trucks and grading for over 12 hours Saturday. Lots of traffic and it was dead end street without the beach access, so I am not sure why so much traffic. House was dirty. It has ants. We didn’t have water for almost 2 hours when we got there only reason we knew was plumber was there. Husband had to turn the water back on. Only had 1 flat baking pan. Every dish I pulled out of cabinet was dirty. The broom they left needed to be thrown away. I had to wipe kitchen cabinets and stove off they were gross.

Stayed over the memorial day weekend + a few days. We found the location to be perfect in that it was close enough if you wanted to venture out yet still not overcrowded. Even on the holiday weekend, the short walk to the beach was pleasant and the beach was not chaotic busy. The property was very comfortable for three full time adults and a couple visitor's. Lounging on the deck watching the tides was rejuvenating. Thanks for having us.

The A/C does not work properly. Checked in at 4pm turned thermostat down, by 9 pm it was still a 78*. Contacted property manger and to their credit they did send out a repair man. He somewhat patched it back together to get us through the next few days. It was bearable but not pleasant. There is a de-humidifier in the living room that had to be emptied every 4 hours or it would go in to auto shut down. There was condensation leaking out of the supply air vents onto the kitchen table. In short the whole A/C needs to be replaced. There are also electrical issues plugs and lights out in various rooms. Check the breakers, no trips. No switch covers / exposed wires on exterior. A 4x4 pickup will not fit under the house. This is an older property so the piers are not as high as other houses. Not the property managers issue however it should be noted on description. We only had my truck, I was able to parallel park in the drive way. The place needs to be sprayed for roaches. Lastly not exactly sure what was going on at the permanent residents two houses down. Very shady activity.

Location and view couldn't get much better. Nice basic oceanfront property with a short walk to the beach. Property has a few issues that the owner needs to let the management company correct. No traps on several drains leads to sewer gas / smell issue. We took care of most it by leaving a wet towel with a pan of water over the shower drain and making sure the dishwasher was closed.Refrigerator was basically non-functioning on our arrival and the management company did their best to take care of that promptly. Lowe's appliance delivery didn't do them any favors and we were without a fridge for aboout half our stay. The management company made this right with us. They were very good to work with. We would consider staying here again and certainly at any property that 979 Vacations manages.

We really enjoyed our stay here. You could sit on the deck and watch the waves crash against the rocks all day. The property was clean, in well working order and will and well stocked. The beach was a 2 minute walk down the street. We would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay! The home was quaint, cozy, and perfectly located—just a short walk to the beach with stunning water views. While the refrigerator wasn’t working during our visit, the deep freezer was a great backup and helped us preserve our food. Everything else was lovely, and we truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location. Would definitely recommend!

Arrived and had a peaceful arrival. Had some issues with house but willing to overlook due to ocean view. Then neighbors who I believe own the property to the right arrived. Music way loud! Bedroom window next to the house and Thump Thump Thump way into 6am the next day. I called at 2am to complaint but no one answered. Huge bags under our eyes the next morning. Peaceful morning. Why? Well, because they were asleep. Evening came, Thump Thump Thump Thump. Property manager spoke to them but the low frequencies of the bass in the music was still reaching our room. Horrible first three days! Seems owners left after that. The answer I later received was this was typical weekend music and not much can be done. If you are going for a peaceful time to rest your soul, don't go to this place on the weekends. Go on a Monday thru Thursday or you may regret it.

Booking process was smooth and the place was easy to find. It was great to chill on the deck looking out into the Gulf of Mexico. However, the amount of humidity inside the house made everything damp and musty. There is a significant gap in the door that allows the warm air from outside into the house with the air on causing high humidity. This would explain the amount of rust inside the house. The water pressure for the shower wasn’t great, but not terrible. With some maintenance and the entire entry to the house replaced, it could be much better.

The location and views are amazing, and it’s a cute quiet little neighborhood. Everything was clean, and check in/out was so easy with the door code. The neighbors were friendly. Everyone waved. The only problem was that our truck was too tall to fit under the house, and the extended cab was too long to fit in front of the house. We had to get creative with our parking and careful not to hit our heads on the rusted beams. We would 100 percent stay here again, though. Thank you!

We are high risk for Covid & was looking for a getaway that could be contactless. This was. And so relaxing. Loved the sound of the waves. We didn't think the patio furniture looked comfortable but it was. Unlike many rentals we felt the furnishings were high quality. Including the stocking of the kitchen. Any small needs we had were quickly handled.

We loved the view from this home. The home was very clean. And it worked well for our family of four to stay for 5 nights. It needs some updating and some maintenance. Many cabinets and drawers throughout the home are broken or cracked. The HVAC system appears to have some issues as it doesn’t do much of anything to take humidity out of the home. It was very warm at night making it difficult to rest well. We have stayed at many properties in this same neighborhood and never had a home that the dehumidifier had to be emptied several times a day. The refrigerator never got very cold even after staying a few days. The fridge freezer does not work. We had melted ice cream to prove that. They do have a small deep freeze so we utilized that the rest of our stay. Also, the home smells like septic quite often. My husband said he doesn’t believe the traps are working right as a foul gassy odor came back up through the pipes after a few hours of not being used. The microwave does not work. Or the wiring isn’t adequate to run it. When used it pulled the power down to the whole house. Truthfully, it is an older home and it just needs some good TLC. We had a great week overall. But hope improvements are made before the next guests stay.

The view. The view you get makes it all worth it. The house smelled terrible, I unplugged the scent plugs and oh did the smell get worse! Then my son found a cockroach! YES. An actual giant roach! Then we were looking in the fridge as it wasn't working properly, and found cockroach fecal matter in and around the water filter!!!! I reported it and they moved us next door but that house had a different kind of bugs. The property manager said it was normal to find these "love bugs" in the house and in the beds!!! When we requested compensation for this they said they would reach out later and never did!! 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend! We are glad to be home!
