Neighborhood

TREASURE ISLAND:
The 979 Crew just loves this seaside and bayside community flanked by Galveston Island on one end and Surfside Beach on the other. On your drive, stop by the grocery store for your favorite grillables and beverages, make a pit stop at the bait shop to fill your bait bucket (great fishing in TI), and/or place a call to make arrangements to rent a golf cart - this is a very golf cart friendly spot. Enjoy the Gulfside's uncrowded pedestrian beach (no cars allowed for 300 yards but golf carts welcomed) where you can setup your group's camp for the day on the beach to build sandcastles, jump in the surf, find unique shells and sand dollars, boogie board, shore & surf fish and build an evening bonfire. Or if preferred, utilize the available launch for your boat or kayak or head to the fishing pier on the bayside. Some much to do so little time!

It’s one of the best places for a family and friends’ vacation— it would be perfect if it had one more bedroom.

I was welcomed by a greeting card and basket of small items when I first entered the room, which made me feel very warm. The property is really clean. Great location. All my friends really enjoyed the stay.

We showed up and were greeted by ankle deep water under the entire house (carport). Unloading was very difficult; sloshing through water and slime on the concrete (it gets worse).. The current defective grading allows rain water to stand underneath the house. Worse, it also floods the septic tank which is just next to the carport. We discovered we were actually sloshing through septic contaminated water as we unloaded two vehicles. Otherwise, the pier is great, but needs some upgrading. The house needs some basic items fixed, such as simple knobs on the cabinets in the kitchen (come on, how hard can that be to add?), better furnishings, and hjding wires running along walls.

We love staying here. It is so relaxing and the kids have non stop fun. I only have one tiny suggestion. It gets really wet and muddy in the driveway or the carport area. Also, the king size mattress is drooping a little and is a little hard. Your home is beautiful and we always enjoy our stay. Thank you for sharing with us.

Loved staying there. Property was excellent. Perfect for a fishing trip. Beds very comfortable and the living/dining area is nice and big. Wrap around deck is perfect. Ac and heating need balancing but that is a easy fix. A ice machine and corkscrew would be nice as well. Overall the house is clean and perfect for what I had originally planned. My only disappointment was the property company un willingness to work with me when unexpected circumstances prevented some in my party from traveling. I understand the insurance could be purchased at the time of booking but still refusing even to entertain changing dates to a empty slot later in the year seems stubborn and petty to me. Still I suppose your rules are your rules. As it turned out I had a great time with my 2 children instead. I would definitely look at the house again.

I come here for the second time and the septic system still not fix. The first time i came here was in 2019 and the septic already problem, all the water out from the house will be go up under the house that bringing a lot of mosquitoes and the smell is very bad. We have couple kids, and all of them couldn't go outside from evening because a lot of mosquitoes. Last year we've already sent the email feedback to the owner about the septic problem and they said thank you and told us they will fixed, but this time it still here. This time we read the review before we try to come back, and we saw the owner reply review something about sea level. My question is, why all the neighbor house not have the septic problem because sea level, why is only the house have problem. This problem stay here for couple years and the owner never fix, they only blame to the sea level Second problem with this property is the owner never respond to guest or answer the call. Before we check in, we sent the email, message, and called them but couldn't get any answer except when the time closest to check in time and they send us the paper for sign, after that we sent them message but still not got any answer. When we in the house, we saw the kitchen sink faucet damaged, then we try to called them many time but they didn't respond. We took the picture and send them with message and email but not respond. We have to fixed it by ourselves, if not we couldn't stay. Before we left, we tried to call and contacted them but still not got respond, i don't know this is vrbo' problem or the owner, but the funny thing is after we came home, we received the email complaint about the faucet damage, and they blames us did it, and they charged for that. Before we came here, we hoped this is fun trip, but we got the horrible trip. Hope Vrbo can fix it or they can work with home owner, if not traveler will always get the fake information and lost their money

Caught lots of fish. Septic overflowed with only four people. We did not take showers the last day because we did not want to overflow the septic system.

We had a great time at this property. Caught some fish, tried to go kayaking but there is no where to launch the kayaks from, so that was a bummer. The place was clean enough, we did get a few glasses out that were downright dirty and had to wash them. But other than that it was great.

We were totally ecstatic staying here at this beach house did not have one issue....the house has everything you need...the beds were soooo comfortable, the kids enjoyed fishing as we did... we caught trout fish and the barbecue pit worked great!! We will defiantly be renting here again!! we would like to make this our yearly spot!! when it's available!! The best part is walking out on the dock to fish no driving around!! Sincerely, Norma Jean

Upon arrival, the driveway has a puddle of SEPTIC WATER overflowing out of the Septic tank. Step out of your car and into a puddle of sewage! Every time you use the sink, shower or toilets, the puddle gets larger. This needs to be fixed now. It was a problem last year and now it is much worse. I will not rent here again unless they fix this issue.

Didnt really need to communicate with anybody about the stay becasue everything was easy to set up and they pretty much answered any questions before i asked. Definitely coming back and bringing the wife.....maybe no the wife.

5th year in a row taking our grandkids for a summer trip just before school starts. Location is good for us and the view is great but the main reason we have come back year after year is to fish with the grandkids. First few years was great. This time none of the water/dock lights would work. Details states lights are “maintained” but not guaranteed. Breaker box is rusted to pieces, know it’s on the coast but that is not maintained. They do not work and if there are no lights there are very very few fish. You can watch the neighbors sit on their dock above their lights and watch them catch a lot of fish though :(. Septic still overflows and ponds on side of home (has been there each year, sometimes smells really bad), door combo works sporadically, we had to leave side door unlocked to make sure we could get back into the property. Previous years had to call and get key out of on-site lockbox. Sadly don’t think our tradition will continue here at this home, will look for a new place next year.

We're local but enjoy a weekend in Treasure Island every year. This was our first stay at the Sea Trout and probably not the last. Communication was great throughout the rental process. There was a nice welcome basket when we walked in. Kitchen was stocked with all appliances, kitchenware and all that we needed and were in good condition. It was organized and easy to find everything. Property was very clean and welcoming. Beds could use some updating but that was the only downfall. The kids made great use of the kayaks. There wasnt a ladder to the water to make it easy to get in them but we jumped onto the boat and got in the kayaks from there. The lights at night were great. Easy drive to Galveston.

Our family loved staying at this property. The private fishing pier was the highlight of the trip. The family caught many varieties of fish including sharks, flounder, trout, stink ray, and catfish. The property was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare food for the week. A short drive to beach swimming areas. We had a wonderful time and will be returning again this coming summer.

As boaters, we frequent Treasure Island. This was a miss for us and we will not be staying here again. For positives, the location is great, it's dog friendly, the beds were comfy, we enjoyed fishing off the dock, the evening lights worked fine, and we were able to catch a lot of stone crab (with my own personal trap). The boat slip is useless. There are no cleats anywhere on the dock. There isn't a boat lift. The top portion of the boat dock is not accessible. We were unfortunately hit with 70+mph winds around 6pm, the living room area somewhat flooded from the rain getting in through the low quality side door (I have video), and the house lost power for 15 hours. Neighboring homes also had their windows blown out. We live an hour away, so I decided to pack up our food (to not lose it all) and headed home for the night with my terrified child. My husband and our friend stayed back to try and get our half sunken boat out of the water (again, no boat lift or cleats). There was damage across the island. I contacted the property service the next day and made them aware of the condition of the house. They said many of their properties were damaged and I should have called earlier to see if they could place us at another property. We unfortunately checked out one day early to get the boat to the mechanic shop as soon as possible to assess any damage. I kindly asked for a refund for our final night, but they did not call me back after my initial call to them.

Great location for fishing. Kids had a blast fishing off dock at night and catching fish almost every cast. House is pretty basic and minimal. We cleaned the house very well when we left but did forget to take trash to dumpster. Property manager pulled up when we were pulling my boat out of water and my wife said he was rude to her about forgetting the trash. The house really should have outdoor trash cans. We rent in Galveston often and always make sure to try and leave the house in Excellent condition. I will not be renting through 979 again.

Was a wonderful place, only a few things that would bump it up to a 5 star. Rod Holders on the dock Get the AC looked at, some nights it would be pretty warm inside Get some Cable or dish TV We had a blast at this house though, had amazing views at sunset. Couldn't of asked for a better place to have our anniversary. Caught some good fish while we were there as well.

No frills place but we were comfortable during our stay! House was clean and the A/C blows cold. We loved the location and fishing off the dock every night or just sitting and watching the birds and dolphins cruising by and enjoying the gorgeous views…especially the sunsets! The hosts were excellent and very responsive whenever contacted which is very much appreciated. House is nothing fancy and could use some updates but the location can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend! We hope to come back in the future.

Great location! Fishing is great right on the main bay with pier. That is what we came for. The house is not as fancy or finished as others, but if you don’t need that this place was no frills awesome! Everything you need, nothing you don’t. Just sitting on the pier you’ll see dolphins, and sea turtles.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights and this house is great. We use this app to book vacation homes regularly and were very happy with this property. The house and property are very clean, bedding and towels are great quality. The owners were very helpful and extremely courteous when we had a couple question. Easy to reach via text and very quick to respond. The fishing was great! The pier is very large and has running water to clean fish and wash hands. Just made for a very comfortable experience. We will be coming back to this property.

The house overall is very clean, spacious, neat and has a beautiful view from within the house. There are a few items that need to be worked on: removal of the boat and trailer with trash/junk in it; the pier is in need of some much needed work (bench needs to be bolted back down, electrical outlet needs repairing, removal of electrical wires that are non-working, replacement of the stairs leading to the top deck on the pier). In addition, the bathroom showers need soap dishes to place soap in while taking a shower and the Keurig coffee pot needs to be replaced or repaired. Overall, we had a good time and we caught fish on Friday night, but there was a problem with the breaker box on Saturday night and we were unable to get the fishing lights on the pier to come on. So, we were unable to fish on Saturday night which was such a let down on our last night there. The neighbors were nice enough to allow my friend to fish on their pier and she cleaned up on Speckled Trout. We did not want to ask them to allow all of us to fish on their pier because they had a large number of people in their group. We made the management company aware of this problem and they have not responded appropriately yet. We are patiently waiting. Karen J. Missouri City

The home is clean and well equipped with everything you'll need. For fisherman who have a PB or kayak the location can not be beat. Easy access to the Gulf, West Bay, and Tri Bay areas. Sunsets are spectacular ! We will definitely be back. Don't forget "catch and release" to let them get big and save some for the next guy or gal.

We really enjoyed our visit to the SeaTrout. Very nice property with plenty of room for our group of 5. The fishing was fantastic. Definitely would book this property again in the future.

While our visit was very peaceful, relaxing and fun; the weekend started off a little disappointing. Upon arrival, I observed that the grass was high and called the Steve with 979 Vacation Rental who was very defensive when I advised him that the grass needed to be cut. At first he made several excuses, but I reminded him that I paid my money without issue and I expect that if there is an issue with the property that he would handle it the same way. I advised Steve that other lawns in the area were cut and the lawn was not wet nor had standing water. He did manage to contact the owners who he said are responsible for making sure the grass is cut and someone came out on Saturday mid-morning to cut the grass. Other suggestions: small trash can in the bathroom on the right and need add'l kitchen bowls, measuring cups, dish towels, add'l seating could be added near the front windows in the living room. Fishing was great and the lights on the pier were a added plus. Karen Missouri City, Tx

We had some rough weather during our stay, but we still enjoyed our stay. We were able to do some finishing and everything was in working. Great location! Just one thing that should be addressed is what seems like raw sewage runoff that was on the right side driveway. We tried to keep away from it, but the smell was strong.

Couldn’t have been more perfect! Couple of suggestions ..... 1.The stored old boat with lumber and rusty nails was not good for my curious grand children . 2.The screws in the door deadbolt were coming loose as we entered the property

Clean, nice bay house , convenient to the gulf if u fish offshore , pier with lights are great for fishing , negatives -no ice maker or deep freeze if u plan on keeping fish to take home , also boat lift is not operational

Things I would expect for $530/night price (the per night price plus all the added fees and taxes). 1. TV that at least gets CBS ABC and NBC. Some of us are not tech savvy enough to "live stream" TV. 2. At least some ice cube trays so we can make cubes.

Great place to stay for fishing and views. Been taking our 6 grandkids to the beach as a tradition each summer. Typically stay in canal homes which are nice and all the kids had caught their first fish there but this time tried the bay house. A lot better fish and variety here. Stayed 4 nights, one night was excellent fishing while the other three were not so hot, but still caught some fish. Kids caught 3 stingrays which they thought was really cool, one flounder and a lot of speckled trout. Caught limits of trout the first night but only 2 or so keepers each of other nights. Home is updated and good condition, no compliants. Thanks!
