5 days at Pelicans Pass with my grandkids was the BEST way to end the summer. This beach house was better than described. 3 screened porches. Beach & bay views. The sunset from the highest porch was picturesque. The beach just a 100 yards away. Pet friendly. And everything is provided. All you need to bring is food, beach towels and your family!! I will definitely be staying at Pelicans Pass again in the future, and will definitely recommend to everyone who is listening.

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely book this property again. The home was comfortable, well-equipped, and the master bedroom was especially nice. We also loved the amenities, especially the three screened-in patios, which gave us plenty of space to relax without worrying about bugs.The location was another highlight for us. It's just a short walk to the beach, and we had a great time catching blue crabs along the shore. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway away from the crowds, this is an excellent choice.During our stay, the refrigerator stopped working. The property management team responded quickly and had it replaced within two days. While it was an inconvenience, we really appreciated how promptly they handled the situation and their effort to make things right.The only thing future guests should keep in mind is how remote the property is. We personally loved the seclusion, but it's about 12 miles to the nearest grocery store, and both Galveston and Surfside are a bit of a drive. As long as you plan ahead for groceries and supplies, the peaceful location is well worth it.Overall, this was a fantastic stay, and we wouldn't hesitate to book this property again.

Unfortunately, our stay was not a pleasant experience.For the first two days, we had to deal with a malfunctioning air conditioning system. The extreme heat made the situation especially difficult for my 75-year-old mother and our two young children. We were eventually offered the option to move to another property. While we appreciated the effort, relocating in the middle of our vacation after already settling in was highly inconvenient, particularly with an elderly family member and young children. Nevertheless, we chose to move because staying in the original property was simply not feasible.At the second property we encountered another major issue—the refrigerator and freezer were not cooling adequately. We reported the problem multiple times and were repeatedly told that it needed time to cool because it had recently been restarted and was heavily stocked. However, the issue never improved.This was particularly challenging because my mother and children do not eat restaurant food. My wife had prepared and brought all of their meals from home specifically for this trip. On Monday, 2 days after the move, we were told that a contractor had been notified, but no one ever came to inspect or repair the refrigerator. As a result, I had to purchase ice and store our food in a cooler to prevent it from spoiling.Overall, our stay was disappointing. We spent much of our vacation dealing with maintenance issues instead of enjoying our time with family.

We loved the property! Everything we needed was there and locations were labeled so no searching. A big thank you to the cleaning crew - everything was spotless! The views from every porch and balcony - there were 4- were amazing. And the ramp instead of stairs was a big plus. The dogs loved racing each other to the top. Very good rental if you’re bringing pets and want something affordable in this neighborhood. Cleanliness was top notch. Some wear and tear but that’s expected near the beach! Our only downfall was the ramp, it was a little steep trying to get a baby carrier up and down. Overall I would recommend and stay again!

We have stayed in this neighborhood for several years now this was our first time as a smaller group so we chose this smaller house and it did not disappoint. Great location. Easy to locate and get in. Host had excellent communication and instructions. Furniture and home goods were great and all appliances worked well. Parking area under home was completely flooded and covered in sand which made getting in and out a messy event. Other homes in area had parking areas that were clean and usable. The home has a noticeable mold / mildew smell. Areas of rot are present around door openings, walls, and flooring and those areas are wet/rotten. One of the pocket doors in an interior wall between a bathroom and closet had mold all over it when we slid it open. 2nd bedroom has strong rot/mold odor. There is, what appears to be, an A/C drain hose that is positioned above the only entry stairs that constantly has a stream of water dripping on anyone coming in or out of the home. Property advertised with grill so we brought meat to grill but the grill was beat up and the grill grates were rusted. It was also locked in the flooded parking area.

There was a considerable amount of rain before your stay and couple that with our normal coastal high-humidity, things tend to be quite damp. Sorry for an inconvenience as a result. The house's cleanliness, beautiful balconies, and proximity to the beach were definite highlights. The house is advertised as being able to accommodate eight people. Our group consisted of four adults and two toddlers, which should have been easily manageable. However, we encountered several issues that made our stay less comfortable for example the lack of extra bedding for the pull out couch, not enough towels, and basic supplies like coffee, enough dishwasher pods and laundry detergent were drawbacks that affected our overall comfort. The responsive home management was a big plus, but the inconvenience of having to request additional items during our stay was a hassle. With a few improvements in these areas, this property could be an excellent choice for a beach vacation. Until then, future guests should come prepared with extra supplies (blankets, towels, coffee, food seasoning, dishwasher liquid and laundry liquid if you need) to ensure a more comfortable and hassle-free stay.

The views from this house are amazing. The decks are nice with the screens since the mosquitos can be pesky. The house has everything you would need. However, on arrival the access code didn’t work (quite frustrating with the long travel). When we did enter the home is was very hot and the smell of mold hit us. The only part of the house that cooled off nicely was the upstairs (which was odd to us). The bed in the downstairs room broke on day 3, thankfully I brought a sheet for the pull out bed. The last night the breaker tripped in the downstairs bedroom, we are pretty sure there is a leak in the wall since we had water leaking on the stove top and the smell. The hosts were very responsive but it was a bit of an inconvenience to have to correspond with them so much during our vacation. The house was nice just needs some maintenance on some of the furnishings. If the downstairs area matched the upstairs it would have been perfect.

My husband and I (plus our 2 pups) were looking for a quiet weekend getaway and found Pelican's Pass. We arrived at night and found the property with no issues. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood and is close to beach access. To enter the property, you will have to go up a pretty steep inclined ramp, so not an easy feat for anyone who is disabled or elderly. Otherwise, it's a great leg workout! It was easy to unlock and enter the property. We were very impressed with the layout and cleanliness of the house. My favorite spot was the open air deck facing the ocean, but of course the views of the bay were great from the deck in the front. The only drawback was the $200 NON-refundable price we had to pay for our 2 pups. Why not refund it if there was no damage or issues? So with the $200 and the cost of the rent, we paid close to $1,000 for about 43 hours. We felt that was a bit pricey for just a weekend.

This is our 2nd time staying and we absolutely love it. We plan on returning again next summer. Our only complaint is that the new house next-door has so..many outdoor lighting that it totally ruined sitting on the screened in deck at night and watch the stars. Don't understand why they have too have that many porch lights on.

We had a great stay here. The house was well kept and offered a lot of outdoor deck/patio space. We loved sitting on the back patio off the master bedroom in the evenings. It was nice with the breeze and ocean wave sounds. The walk to the beach was short and the beach itself was not crowded at all. Very peaceful. We watched the sun rise over the ocean and the sun set over the bay. Loved it! The house was well stocked items. We didn’t need to purchase any extras of anything and our fur babies had a treat waiting for them when we arrived! The incline in the ramp is pretty steep so be prepared! Beach items being provided would have been nice. There is no where nearby to rent them so prepare to bring your own. Enjoy!

We loved this cute little beach house! The screened porches made it a super unique place to be and kept us mosquito bite free. The kitchen had everything we needed - even had sharp knives and a Ninja blender! The master bedroom upstairs is huge, and the mattress is exceptional — my daughter-in-law even wanted to find out the brand because it was so comfy. The ramp up to the entry is a great feature and makes rolling luggage easy. I brought a utility wagon and used it to haul groceries and supplies up and down. And don’t worry about construction noise next door because the workers are mostly inside at this point, and we were not disturbed at all. Overall a very well-maintained place. Overall it was a great place. A few minor issues, throw pillows were dirty, sofa had pet hair and left over crumbs from previous visits, dusty floors in the downstairs bedroom.

Overall it was a great place. A few minor issues, throw pillows were dirty, sofa had pet hair and left over crumbs from previous visits, dusty floors in the downstairs bedroom.

Well kept and clean home, perfect for a couples getaway! Even with mosquitoes prohibiting us from “beaching it up” in September, we had lovely views of the ocean from screened in balconies on all sides of the home. Highly recommend! We will certainly book here again!

The house is really nice! It’s a little walk to actually get to the beach since they moved the beach access. Was perfect for our family of 5! Make sure you bring extra blankets and lots of trash bags! The ice machine never re filled so bring ice! We really enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful home, lots of space for the four of us. The ramp took a little getting used to, but we got good at the climb. Views were amazing. Beach access is super close. Everything was clean in the home. Nice little touches like the personal care items, dishwasher and laundry pods. Quiet (except for the construction) in the neighborhood. Definitely shop when you arrive…or on your way. House is stocked with utensils, plates, cookware, mixing, cutting boards and pans, but bring any food or condiments you want. Closest big stores are 30 min away. We did support local Freeport business when we could. Book your golf cart in advance.

One of the nicest, cleanest rentals we have ever stayed in. The kitchen was not only well stocked but everything was labeled making it easy to locate what was needed. Great location and while yes, there is a house being built next door, you really only lose the view from bed. All 4 balconies have great views as does the living room. We really enjoyed the house and it was perfect in every way. We travel a lot and this house sure has been one of our favorites! Every detail so well thought out. Beach and ocean views from every room and a few decks to enjoy them. Short walk to a beautiful quiet beach. Dog friendly with a cute gift for the dogs to welcome them 😉 Clean and comfortable bed and really well setup house for a perfect stay. We really enjoyed this stay and will return for sure 😊. Great place. Everything was clean and cared for. Inside, it was exactly what was advertised. It’s worth noting that there isn’t grass, like the pictures show. It’s all covered by sand, but I understand that might be outside the control of the owner.
One thing we didn’t realize before booking, this property is just on the other side of a toll road. As it happens, there is a $3 toll in order to get into Galveston and another $3 toll to return to the house. It’s also about a 40 minute drive each way.
Having said that, the house was exactly what was described. It’s right on the beach and we had a great time. If we came back, we would book the same place again without hesitation. Thanks!

Glad to hear you and your group had a great time and appreciated our home's cleanliness and care. As for the sand (versus grass) on the property, this is a product of Hurricane Laura and the 2 tropical storms' power making a decision for the owner. Some would say it makes it more of a "beach" getaway and perfect for a sand volleyball match. That said, the owner is trying to redistribute and has done a lot already. Regarding the San Luis Pass bridge, the toll is actually $2, and I guess it depends on which end of the island you are headed as there is another non toll bridge in Surfside. Regardless, we appreciate your feedback and 5-stars. You were excellent and courteous guests to host! We hope you'll be back!

We had a lovely time here. The house was clean, kitchen well stocked with nice dinnerware, utensils and cookery. There were nice touches like a dog treat, dog cleanup bags, and a few toiletries and cleaning supplies to get you started. I enjoyed the screened in porch facing the beach, which is a short walk away. The beach was more crowded on weekends but cleared out during the week. I do wish there had been beach chairs, etc. as bringing our own took up a lot of space in our vehicle. We had to contact the rental company a couple of times and they responded promptly. Neighborhood was quiet, no loud parties. The only damper on our stay was the voracious mosquitoes that prevented us from taking walks around the neighborhood or playing cornhole downstairs. I recommend a golf cart to avoid getting trapped in the swarms, some days were worse than others.

As for those pesky mosquitoes, unfortunately, they are tough to battle especially right after something like that surge from hurricane Laura. The county has been spraying nightly, and we may just need some catchup time.

This was an absolutely wonderful spot! There were some minor issues related to cleanliness (spots on throw pillows around house, couch, and living room rug -- all light-colored items), but the space was mostly clean, beautifully decorated, airy, and extremely close to the beach. We stayed for 3 days, 4 nights and I was worried we'd get tired of the beach, but that was far from the case.
The beach itself wasn't overrun with people like Galveston beaches sometimes are. There was lots of space between camps each day, enough so that our pups could freely run into the water and back to our beach blanket without disturbing anyone else. Just be sure you have EVERYTHING you might need before you show up, as the nearest store can be a 45-minute trip or longer. The nearby convenience stores feature a limited selection of goods at a markup (my dad paid $20 for a pair of flip flops from an RV resort gift shop that began to fall apart within minutes of wearing them).

Pelican’s Pass beach house is a keeper! Steve is kind and courteous answering all of our questions. Quiet, payed back community. The house is awesome. Clean and beautiful. And the views are fantastic. Screened in porches are a plus! The ramp was helpful when using a wagon carrying all our stuff in the house. We had a great time “staying in” and social distancing at the beach every day. We will certainly be back!

Had a tiny hiccup and the property manager was there right away... the beach access is a bit of a walk, but the area is great for bikes or scooters.

We had an amazing time @ Pelicans Pass! The home was nicely appointed, beautiful decorated, very clean and comfortable. The location had stunning views, was very peaceful and quiet. It was perfect for our holiday getaway. It was our first time to Freeport and we loved it...so pretty! Our pups loved it as well... nice yard for them.
The home is a Very short two minute walk to a pristine beach. You are not far from places to eat, or grab a few necessities. Galveston is a nice drive, about 25 minutes away, if you have additional shopping needs.

Just returned from a great week away at Pelicans Pass - wonderful property - perfect for us with the beach a short stroll away, our dogs had the best time on the beach as did our 9 year daughter - great time of year to go with the weather being mild and the beach mostly with hardly a soul there ! The property is clean and bright and has everything you need. Beds very comfortable with nice linen with plenty of towels. The ramp up to the house is useful for getting your belongings in and out. Great views from the decks (3!) and from the master suite upstairs. Just wonderful - thank you.

We have stayed in this neighborhood before and glad we came back and chose this house this time. We will definitely be coming back again. Much need vacation for my family. This beach house is a gem! The only draw back is the remote location that did not have any grocers nearby, so you will have to pack all the groceries for the week. The home however, had everythi g you can imagine or need for immenities in the kitchen and all rooms. I had brought along 2 bottles of wine but forgot my corkscrew. The kitchen has it and was well stocked for cooking anything you want..and with that as one of my favorite hobbies...impressed me! The beach access is super close and our private puppy yard was sooo wonderful! Beautiful house, great vacation with my kids!!! I would book this one again!

Very nicely finished interior and the value of the screened in decks cannot be understated. Loved it. Note there is a ramp vs stairs so if you have a dolly bring it.

Overall it was a beautiful, well laid out, clean, organized, well decorated and had everything you needed for your stay. Close to the beach and very quite. It was cold and rainy when we were there but still enjoyed the stay because the house was beautiful. Only thing is the toll of $4 every time you leave and come back. I was unaware of that. Plus they were out of books for the discount, not part of the house but something to consider. Plus the house is a 30 minute drive to restaurants or a good size grocery store.

Clean, comfortable and close to the beach are what we aim for - thank you. Mother nature wasn't listening to our sunny Spring Break requests, arg, sorry the weather wasn't ideal. As for the bridge, actually if you go to the South, you can avoid the toll for some good restaurants. We'll make sure to make that clearer in our messaging. Hope you'll join us again!

Stylish and beautifully decorated beach house, very clean and inviting! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need as far as dishes and cookware, just be sure to bring your own spices, including salt and pepper. Has a washer and dryer if you’re inclined to do laundry during your stay or just don’t want to take dirty laundry home. Be sure to bring extra towels and beach towels.
Little convenience store just across the road to grab any basic necessities you might need.
Very short walk to the beach from the house and beautiful views of the water and sunsets from the screened decks!

A great peaceful getaway location. The house Is well stocked and offers amazing views of the beach, sunrise, and sunset! The remote location means you need to take whatever food you want with you when checking in.

We were presently surprised with our stay at Pelican Pass. It was advertised as clean and it was spotless! All the components of PP appeared nearly new. The beach is closer than it appears in an advertisement and is easily reached on foot. Also, one can drive to a very convenient small parking lot next to the beach. Bright Lite is a small convenience store and bait shop across the main highway from PP. All the homes there have a ramp or stairs to reach the living level above the parking area below the house. Fortunately, PP has one ramp with anti-slip horizontal strips every 12 or 13 inches. Therefore, walking up or down the ramp, with luggage, was easier than expected. We enjoyed a relaxing few days at the beach with grandchildren 7 & 10. It was perfect.

Absolutely loved the views, porches and new furnishings! Our family enjoyed a late dinner under the stars from the elevated screened front porch without the bugs - delightful! While the home is not huge, it is setup well and super classy comfortable. The master bed and suite truly is decadent! It is a wonderful experience for our family of 4.
