We love Surfside. We visit all the time - my brother lives there. I’ve stayed in a few rentals before, this one was not the worst but it definitely was not the best. Vents, fans, & fixtures were very dusty and in need of a deep cleaning. The air conditioner does not get colder than 70° no matter what you do and you’re lucky if it’s that cold. There are flat screens on every wall, but only one of them works in the entire house. Management said someone was going to come take a look at tvs, but no one ever came. If you like sleeping in late in late into the morning when you’re on vacation: this place is not for you, there are no covers for the windows only very sheer white curtains so it gets very bright (even though it rained most of our trip, I could not sleep in.) The issues we had were minor, not enough to make a huge fuss over, but I do want to let future guests know what to expect. Aside from that, the neighborhood was friendly, it’s not far from the beach entrance, and views 10/10

Thank you for allowing us to host your Surfside stay, Shandell. We're glad you gave the neighborhood and views 10 out of 10 but disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy this home more. We take all feedback to heart and have passed along to the various team members and owner. As for the AC, yes, it cannot be set below 70 during this hot time of year otherwise the systems will never shut down and then will freeze up. It is much better to have 70 degrees than no AC, eek!

Good location for us. Easy bike ride to a beach access. Hauling jugs of water up the stairs kind of a pain. Intracoastal view entertaining

My family of four stays in Surfside monthly while I'm here for work in Freeport. This property has the BEST WATER QUALITY we've experienced in 7 months. Unfortunately, this is where my compliments end. We must have stayed at the house right before a deep cleaning because the floors and rugs were terribly dirty, dishes were out back in the cupboard dirty, items were broken - like the window screens and patio chairs, and most of the light fixtures needed attention, either to be cleaned from excessive bug build up or just simply a light bulb. Upon arrival, but king bedrooms had no light bulbs. Every aspect of the furniture was uncomfortable: cheap mattresses with uncomfortable thick foam toppers, no mattress covers, futon couches, and metal bar stools. I had to remind 979 to charge me the pet fees even though they were listed in my original reservation, and when I asked for a discount on the pet fee because of the status of the house, they declined. Ultimately, it was a rough stay.

Hi Janel, thank you for allowing us to host your stay and glad the water quality was the best. That said, we're sorry to hear you felt it was a rough one. It seems this may be a pattern with you. I was looking back through our original communication, and you had reached out to us saying that some other home (not ours) was not up to your standards and you were looking for an alternative. Additionally, after you contacted us, our Maintenance Manager, Daniel, went to the house and found the globes and light bulbs on the floors from the fans (?). He installed bulbs and put back on the globes. He also cleaned out the outdoor lights for you. I'm not sure how much more responsive we could be. He did say you were very nice to him, and we do appreciate that. :). As for the furniture quality, some of that is personal preference, and we will certainly pass that along to the owners of the home. Again, sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the home more.

Beds were comfortable, towels were really thick. It was very clean and comfortable. We would go back.

Our group comes for the annual Go Topless event in Surfside each year. This home was plenty large for our group of 5 (2 couples and a single). The beds were comfy and plenty of space in each of the bedrooms to spread out our long weekend suitcases. This home is convenient to local restaurants and sits on a quiet street. It is the first time we have rented with 979, but it will not be our last!!

Great location. Clean & has essentials (might pack a few baking sheets, blender, etc. if you plan on spending a lot of time in the kitchen). Enjoyed our stay & would visit again. 👍🏻

Home was a good distance from beach, easily walkable. Had trouble sleeping in upstairs full-size bed because of its squeakiness. We found a couple of miscellaneous items from previous renters. Some issues with the cleanliness of the dishes/silverware. I recommend shower curtains be updated as they were starting to rust.

very cute home, the beds were super comfy, but the foam mattress toppers were a little hot to sleep on. Also the sheets on the upstairs king kept coming off because they were too small. More patio chairs would be nice & kitchen knives for cutting. Other than those minor things, it was great. we would definitely stay again. Oh & the neighbors were very nice!

We were cautious about coming due to hurricane Beryl having just hit the area. Management told us all was well with the property and told us to come on. We felt we should have been updated more from the company on the condition of the area of Surfside so we could have been more prepared. We had to do a lot of research on our own to know what we were coming into. The house was in good shape and pretty clean. Our only complaint was that we didn’t know there was a boil water in effect and this was never communicated with us. Overall the experience was great and we had a good time.

Overall, the place is very nice, and location is very good. (15-minute walk to the beach which is also available by car. Street was very peaceful.) Well supplied except the pots and pans are sub-standard. If you plan to cook, may prefer to bring your own pans. Third bedroom is small but would work well for family arrangement. A few nice restaurants within a few miles. Not busy or crowded like Galveston--more peaceful. Management very helpful. Thanks.

We loved everything. I do wish that we had a table with chairs because it was hard for 8 of to sit all together. We only had 4 stools. All in all everything was nice!

Our experience was horrible. The neighbors who live around the rental beach house were very unwelcoming and RUDE. Just like the manager steve who we rented from. Very rude. Told us this property wasn’t meant to be a rental and the neighbors don’t like that. So the neighbors were very hateful to myself & my family on our stay. The manager did nothing but make it horrible. Called our cell phones and treated us as we were kids. We even checked out a day early because the disrespect was so bad. I will NEVER rent from 979 rentals ever again. The property was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for, just not worth it to have to deal with Karen’s our whole trip.

Getting the rental was an involved process thatade me feel safe about the quality of the renters they allow. The check in process was seamless and worked perfectly. They area was great. On the downside, it appeared that the place had not been rented in quite awhile. The A/C vents all had large amounts of dust to the pint to where it was also stuck to the ceiling. The A/C filter is in plain view and was way past due for a change. The toilets had not been flushed in quite a while, and the water in them was stagnant and left residue growing in them. There were also several baby German cockroaches especially in the dishwasher, in the kitchen, and the living room area. I sent an email to the property manager, but have not heard back that they will be addressing any of these issues.

The house was very cute. There did need to be more outside furniture. There were Three decks and a total of two chairs. The house sleeps 8 but seating inside was sparse. There were only four of us and we spent minimal time inside so it wasn’t a problem. We were a three minute walk to the beach. It was super cute and we enjoyed our stay there. We did have a problem getting the upper deck doors open but we received a response from the management within minutes.

It was easy access to beach but beach isn’t visible from house, upstairs king bed is not a bed and there is not a drainage system for the downstairs shower so mosquitoes were horrifically bad.

We had a great stay! The property was clean and felt new. We drove to the beach but you could walk if you don’t have a lot to haul. My only minor complaint was that there was no patio furniture. The pictures showed some chairs on the deck at least but there was none. Wasn’t a big deal but would have been nice for dining alfresco.

This property is ok location. Neighborhood is good. Upon arrival deck had cigarette butts and dirt pile. Trash dumpster was completely full. When we called about it upon arrival(Thursday) they said it would be picked up Monday and to just put trash beside it. Kitchen pots and pans are not worthy for a garage sale. Coffee pot is rusted terrible as is stove top and outside of refrigerator. Fan in master bed is in bad need of replacement. Smoke alarms went off when we turned on dryer. We called about them twice and were never repaired, they did change batteries but that did not fix the problem.To top it off we forgot fresh fish in freezer and they were unwilling to ship it back although we offered to pay. Poor customer service.
