Neighborhood

TREASURE ISLAND:
The 979 Crew just loves this seaside and bayside community flanked by Galveston Island on one end and Surfside Beach on the other. On your drive, stop by the grocery store for your favorite grillables and beverages, make a pit stop at the bait shop to fill your bait bucket (great fishing in TI), and/or place a call to make arrangements to rent a golf cart - this is a very golf cart friendly spot. Enjoy the Gulfside's uncrowded pedestrian beach (no cars allowed for 300 yards but golf carts welcomed) where you can setup your group's camp for the day on the beach to build sandcastles, jump in the surf, find unique shells and sand dollars, boogie board, shore & surf fish and build an evening bonfire. Or if preferred, utilize the available launch for your boat or kayak or head to the fishing pier on the bayside. Some much to do so little time!

Important Note: While this home looks right out to the stunning San Luis Pass and beautiful Gulf (perfect for bird watching, sunning, beachcombing, fishing & sunrise/sunset viewing), the state of Texas in late 2017 has put a restriction regarding swimming in the Pass because of unpredictable riptides. Therefore, access to the neighborhood swimming, water sport and surf fishing beach is a 8 min walk or 30 sec car ride to the entrance. See image included.

Getting Around

San Luis Pass and Treasure Island have been known all over the United States for being a saltwater fishing hotspot and the most amazing sunrises & sunsets! It is 15 minutes from Surfside and across the bridge from Galveston's west end and only about 25-30 minutes to the heart of Galveston Island's activities. Most people come to the area to spend quality 'non-commercialized" time with family, extended family, and friends!

The house itself was fine. The location would have been ideal if we were allowed to swim out front. You are not allowed to swim in this area and was told several times by a sheriff and a big giant metal sign in the swimming area that’s right out in front of the house. You will definitely have to drive somewhere else Either with the golf cart possibly or actually drive to another beach.

We're so glad you enjoyed the house—it really does have some of the best views around. While it's true that swimming isn’t allowed directly in front of the home (those signs and friendly reminders from the sheriff are hard to miss!), it’s all about your safety in that particular stretch of shoreline. That said, the Treasure Island neighborhood beach entrance is just a walk or quick golf cart or car ride away—and we include a map in the guest guide to help point the way (easy to overlook in vacation mode, we get it!). In the meantime, you can still enjoy that amazing water view, go beachcombing, cast a line, or just sit back and soak in the Gulf breeze. We’d love to welcome you back for more relaxing days by the water—swims included next time!

What a FANTASTIC little house! It was perfect, clean, and so well decorated. We loved the proximity to the beach which had so many unique shells and sand dollars! We will definitely be back in the future! Also, the hosts were super proactive and responsive!! Would rate this 10 stars if I could!

Nice stay! Comfortable. Near beach. Went for 18th anniversary. Nearest store is like 7 miles plus toll. Could smell slight pet order. Charged a lot for cleaning fees and we had to do a lot. No cable but great WiFi. I will consider again when prices are lower. Bring all your things because local stores price gouge. No bottle opener… bring mosquito spray!!! I wish they were a little more flexible with check in.

Thank you for allowing us to host your island stay, and Happy 18th Anniversary, Durward! As for grocery stores, we are located on a barrier island so purchasing your items on your way (typically Lake Jackson/Clute or Galveston depending on which way you travel) is recommended unless just picking up a few incidentals. Also, the Lake Jackson HEB will deliver to Treasure Island which is a nice option as well. Regarding a pet odor, there actually weren't any pets nor guests, for that matter, prior to your stay, as the home was being entirely replumbed and was offline. Perhaps there were some lingering all new re-pipe scents, sorry about that if so. As for a bottle opener, we will definitely confirm there is one there and replace if need be. Thanks again for staying with us for your celebration!

This was a very quiet neighborhood with an easy walk from the house to the beach! Loved being able to watch the sunrise on the gulf. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cookware, however a few of the pans were unusable due to heavy scratches. The patio furniture on the deck was very comfortable however, the picnic table and patio furniture in the parking area were not on the property as pictured. The third bedroom on the second story was quite spacious, but doesn't have a fully closing door to block out noise, and the spiral staircase was a little tricky at times even for adults. Overall the house was decorated cutely and was comfortable!

Great stay the Treasure Island neighborhood. This house is on the second row- but the wrap around porch has great views of the gulf. House is well equipped and very clean. Very short talk to a beach to fish- but swimming beach at the end of the neighborhood- maybe a 5-10 min walk. This house is a 25 min driver to Freeport fishing charters and 45 min drive from Galveston fishing charters. Upstairs has a bunk bed with a trundle and 4th twin in window.

We really enjoyed our spur of the moment trip. Had one of the best beach vacations ever and the property was a big part of the reason.

This place looks just like the photos and the view from the balcony/deck is beautiful. However, the beds are in VERY sorry shape and should be replaced. Truly sad that they were so worn out we could not get a good night’s rest. Also, the beach is nice but it’s not right in front of the house…..the one directly in front has too strong currents (per the owner) so the one you go to is about three blocks away. I would have liked to have known that beforehand. All in all we enjoyed our stay but don’t stay there unless they have replaced the downstairs mattresses.

When I booked this property there were no reviews but I took a risk. It was worth it. Because there are few reviews I wanted to take the time to provide one that might be helpful to folks. First of all, this house is CLEAN and cozy. There was nothing we had any concern with. Bathrooms, kitchen, appliances were all clean and well appointed. Next, the AC on this home is NO joke. It keeps you comfortable and cool when you come in from all that humidity. We are big cooks when on vacation and this kitchen was great. So many plates and glasses and they had a vegetable peeler and mixer and can opener. It is stocked well. And we loved the coffee maker and blender. You cannot go wrong on this kitchen. The deck chairs were so comfortable and clean. Loved the rug and umbrella. The sunrise off the end of the deck is right between the houses. Here is a tip that is not a negative, but helpful to know. We had three tall daughters with us and they stayed up in the loft area. This area would be great for 12 and under. The 19 and 16 and 24 year old girls who were up there were too big for the beds and space. If you had really young kids the stairs could be kind of scary. They are tricky to navigate for adults. The home had a high chair and portable crib. Very nice for young families. Four adults can stay here comfortably. The loft is for younger kiddos for sure. It’s a great place. Give it a try.

Overall nice. Suggestions: lift for luggage and supplies. Stairs are scary both to house and in house. Maybe some black tread on outside stairs to be able to distinguish stairs and inside staircase needs to be redesigned, guests hit their heads in metal. Side deck facing water need to be redone not stable and wider. Some deck fasteners need to be flush walking barefoot is not recommended. I’ll

First off , the location of this beach house is very nice . Walking distance to beach . Unfortunately, the inside and outside of the house needs some serious cleaning and upgrade . The living room rug as well as bathroom rugs were very dirty with stains that are very unappealing and screams not sanitary . The shower curtains had brown, moldy stains . Having young children with allergies , this did not sit well with us . The teen space upstairs were dusty with little spiders spotted by our girls . Needless to say they did not want to spend time up there after the experience. These are relatively minor changes that could elevate the place for the next guests . For the outside , the decking especially around the back did not seem safe as it looked very unstable/weathered. The outdoor furniture was dirty especially the ones on the bottom deck . We did not use for that reason . Overall, we left a day early because of the uncomfortable feeling .

We loved this location! It couldn’t have been better for the relaxing vacation of me and my two young adult children. We had a blast! My only complaint was the dryer. I went to do laundry on the second day, and the dryer wasn’t drying our towels. So I had to hang dry everything outside that I had washed. Therefore I didn’t wash anything else for the week so that was kind of a bummer. Everything else was great! Comfy and clean house. We used lots of dishes because we ate most of our meals at the house. It was perfect for us. The location was our favorite part. We took the wagon and our chairs down to the beach everyday and just relaxed. And the area was so quiet and peaceful and not populated hardly at all. Thanks so much!

Wonderful house with a beautiful view. Would have been good to know that you aren't supposed to get in the water across from the house and that you need to walk to the other end to get to the beach. We love the exercise and it wasn't too far
