Our sweet "Blue Haven" is located just a super quick walk (end of street) to the beautiful beach! The street has a well-maintained walkover to the Gulf waters and sand galore. The home has peekaboo views of the the ocean and bay from the large covered deck/porch and is well-maintained with quality appliances, flat screen TV’s and comfortable furnishings. Prepare for your relaxing and FUN beach retreat!

The Space

🏝️ We (The 979 Crew) love our sleepy Surfside Beach community with plenty of sand and surf to enjoy! No touristy chain restaurants, shops or hotels. Just chillin' beach bar and grills, food (and beverage) trucks (like Surfin Rita Daiquiris To-Go), burger joints (like Pier 30 and Sharkies on the Beach) and tasty fresh seafood options (like Seahorse Bar & Grill and Beachfront Deck Bar & Grill) line the water. Surfside is your simple relaxing sandy beach, water sporting, surfing, fishing and crabbing vacation destination.

In addition, all of our homes feature luxury hotel-quality/high thread count on all sheets, bedding, and bath towels which are replaced upon every turnover including the duvet covers and shams (we've heard not every company does this, and we think that's just gross). We take clean seriously! When you rent a 979 home, you'll also receive the 'comforts of home' guest welcome starter supply of shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, tp and paper towels, dishwasher and clothes washer pods. We want your stay to be as easy as you do, and the 979 Crew aims to deliver on that commitment. We love our island guests!

🐾 PUP-FRIENDLY:
Bring Fido(s)! We welcome your furry friends (aka family members). Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed at this home, subject to approval and a non-refundable pet fee of $100 per dog per stay.

WIFI/TV SERVICE:
Our properties include WIFI/Internet and TV service for your streaming services. Due to our location (Island living is a whole other way of life), service may be unpredictable or spotty, and repair times can be delayed. While we will do everything we can to ensure these items are in good working order before your arrival, please note, these services may not be as consistent as they are in your area. So grab your favorite people, ditch the electronics, and spend the day at our beautiful beaches!

979 VACATION PROPERTY SERVICES:
All 979 rental home follow local and state tax rules. Reservations may be booked up to 365 days in advance. Please send inquiry and details if more than a year out as rates and availability may not be updated. Each reservation includes applicable taxes, a cleaning fee, $1M liability protection and $10K damage insurance - and good news, No Security Deposit Required!

CANCELLATION POLICY:
For any new reservation, you may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. Some exceptions may apply for last-minute reservations.

After that, cancel at least 30 days before your check-in and receive a refund in your original form of payment less the booking fee.

Reservations made on 3rd party channels/OTAs such as Airbnb, VRBO, Booking, Hopper etc may be subject to their terms and conditions which may be different than 979's. Please reference the site where you originally reserved your stay.

Cute Little House!

Great access to the beach. The neighborhood was quiet and not too busy. The house was nice and clean. Only down side was the ac worked in most rooms but struggled to cool master bedroom.

The listing looked promising, but the experience fell a bit short. Even though the house was clean and generally as pictured, the space felt much smaller, the sheets, pillows and furniture felt more worn than expected. It wasn’t a bad experience, just not one we’d return to.

We're disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy your stay more, Anna. We don't wish that for any of our guests. We're so glad you found this home clean, as we take that seriously. As for the size of this home, it is a fairly typical 2-bedroom beach home configuration in this area and actually the square footage is proactively shared. Regarding the linens, they are high-quality, newer, and laundered professionally offsite. Most guests love them, but maybe you prefer a different type? We will definitely check out the pillows, may be time for a refresh, and we will pass along your feedback to the owner regarding the furnishings. Thank you for allowing us to host you.

We enjoyed our month long stay at the 979 Crew's house. We were a few minutes walk from the beach. The house was very comfortable and met our needs. The house was well maintained and clean. We had a couple questions during our stay and 979 Crew was very responsive. We highly recommend this house for your Surfside stay.

The house was cute, but we had several issues with our stay. 1) We did not receive an access code before arrival and had trouble getting inside. 2) The A/C was not working and the inside temperature was around 84. They sent a repair guy Friday evening, who said the problem was fixed, but it wasn't. We slept in sweat and the coolest it got was 77. Luckily, we brought 2 box fans with us, because the house ceiling fans do not provide much circulation. We notified the host right away Saturday morning that the A/C was still not fixed. Management finally came to the house around 2pm to give us a small portable unit. We realized the portable unit wasn't going to cool us down, so we decided to cut our beach trip short and leave this rental. By the time we left at 4:20pm, the house was still at 83 degrees. 3) The wi-fi login in the welcome packet didn't work. The host did refund us for 1 night, but it still cost me over $790 for a less than 24 hour stay in the muggy heat. Worst stay ever.

This is a cute beach home, thank you for noting Elizabeth. We're sorry the AC was misbehaving for you during your stay and the contractor's fix just didn't hold, darn it. We know how important AC here on the coast. We tried our best to provide you some heat relief given the situation, but unfortunately, we rely on the experts to handle repairs as parts are available -often tricky on an island. As for the access code, it looks like it was sent to you via text in advance, perhaps you missed the communication? Regarding the WIFI credentials, we haven't had any other guest mention that and they were verified on your day of arrival by our Field Manager. She has to be connected at the home to complete the arrival check form. We're sorry if you were having difficulties. Thank you for allowing us to host you, and we're disappointed you didn't enjoy your stay more.

We had a good experience; however, there were some changes that I feel are crucial to bettering the experience. The sofa is run down and broken. We laid a sheet on it to sit because it was visibly dirty and smelly. There are several spots that are broken and it was so uncomfortable that we mostly sat on the floor. The master bath shower head had such low pressure and the water never got passed lukewarm (so all 5 of us had to shower in the secondary bath), and finally the garbage disposal doesn't work. Within 20mins of arriving I went to wash my hands and the sink started filling. So, I turned on the disposal to help whatever was in there down and it did not work. We were unable to use the kitchen sink the rest of our trip. Some super awesome things to note is the swing. We loved that. The storage room below was perfect for storing our gear. The color of the home was super vibrant and beautiful. Our kids also slept super comfortably in the large bed in the bedroom. All in all, it was a decent place to stay, but we did leave a day early for the comforts of home.

The house met our needs with what we needed. The air conditioner never got cold..so that was uncomfortable the whole time. It was nice to be close to the beach but we were right on the street which was not great. Overall it was good just might need to look at the AC unit.

Our first night at the property we encountered a few issues. There were ants everywhere, it took about to 3 to 4 days to be rid of them, abs had to dump food because of it. The dryer didnt work fully, but they came promptly to fix the issue. We were told at check in not to drink or cook with the water. Things like the water issues we need to know before booking as this made for extra expense on our part. The water was yellow! I understand not drinking or cooking with it, but it would have given us a chance to book elsewhere. We didn't even want to shower or wash dishes, so we bought paper plates and utensils, and showered minimally. We would have booked another month but decided to go back to a hotel for less stress and ease of amenities.

1st Septic tank seems to be leaking outside on the surface, through the hatch. A/C pan is dripping to the outside, which is creating a trip hazard on the stairway. Precious beach house, but please re-evaluate your cleaning crew. Towels had to be washed because they smelled. Plates, glasses, silverware were dirty, and cabinets doors sticky. Beds were super comfortable and clean!

I fell in love with The Blue Haven! It has an amazing covered deck, central A/C, and nice appliances. They're not kidding about the luxury-quality beds, bedding, and towels, either. So nice! The deck has a view of marshlands to the left, and a peekaboo view of the gulf to the right. Sea breezes feel great outside, and you can hear the surf. What a wonderful home away from home! Another plus: the property manager (979 Vacation Rentals) is excellent. Really great communication from start to finish! Easy arrival/entry - no waiting around for any reason. The house is a short, easy walk to the beach. It's also close to the main road, so there is some traffic noise. On Sunday (the day I arrived), the beach was packed with cars, people, competing sound systems, and mild chaos. If that's your jam, you'll love it. The beach wasn't the cleanest, and it's not as spacious as the beaches in Galveston. I ended up spending my days hanging out on the deck instead of the beach, and I was perfectly happy there! FYI, the tap water in Surfside is brown and smells like sour salt. It was an unexpected (and offputting) contrast to how fabulous The Blue Haven is. I took plenty of distilled water for drinking and cooking, but even showering felt a bit icky. Also, as a solo female traveler, I felt unsafe at times in the general area. Surfside is a very small town and kinda rough around the edges. I'm not a timid traveler, but there were several moments when I was walking alone that I felt vulnerable. Just a heads-up for all the single ladies... If stuff like that isn't an issue for you and your family/friends, then I recommend renting this house in a heartbeat! While Surfside has its quirks, The Blue Haven is its own special paradise!

The house was in good shape. However, the couch is old and uncomfortable and should be replaced ASAP. Needs bedside lamps on both sides of beds and a small chest of drawers in each bedroom would be an improvement. Towel bars in bathrooms kept falling off the walls and shower curtains did as well.

House was excellent. We did have a problem with the cable TV not working (said connections needed tightening), and the smoke detector needing a new battery; it was "beeping" loudly each night and needed to be silenced. Other than those two small inconveniences, we really enjoyed our stay!

The house was a few steps down the road to the beach. We were walking distance to a restaurant and the liquor store. There weren't any baking sheets for the oven(I bought one and left it there). There also needs to be one chair in the living area. My friends didn’t like the cable selections, I don’t watch tv. Overall, the house was great and it was perfect. I had a great time. It met my expectations.

Love the cute little house and the walk with our dog along the endless beach and around the streets. Communication was great and fast. Unfortunately we got into the nightmare of winter storm no power no water and we had to leave from one hour to another. So sad.....

Blue Haven was perfect for our stay! You're practically on the beach and a short, 7-min walk to three different restaurants. The house is clean and bright and the WiFi was strong enough to let both of us work remotely. Hosts are awesome too- we loved our stay so much we asked if we could extend the stay by one day once we were there and they were able to accommodate us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property to anyone!

Our first night at the property we encountered a few issues. There were ants everywhere, it took about to 3 to 4 days to be rid of them, abs had to dump food because of it. The dryer didnt work fully, but they came promptly to fix the issue. We were told at check in not to drink or cook with the water. Things like the water issues we need to know before booking as this made for extra expense on our part. The water was yellow! I understand not drinking or cooking with it, but it would have given us a chance to book elsewhere. We didn't even want to shower or wash dishes, so we bought paper plates and utensils, and showered minimally. We would have booked another month but decided to go back to a hotel for less stress and ease of amenities.

1st Septic tank seems to be leaking outside on the surface, through the hatch. A/C pan is dripping to the outside, which is creating a trip hazard on the stairway. Precious beach house, but please re-evaluate your cleaning crew. Towels had to be washed because they smelled. Plates, glasses, silverware were dirty, and cabinets doors sticky. Beds were super comfortable and clean!

I fell in love with The Blue Haven! It has an amazing covered deck, central A/C, and nice appliances. They're not kidding about the luxury-quality beds, bedding, and towels, either. So nice! The deck has a view of marshlands to the left, and a peekaboo view of the gulf to the right. Sea breezes feel great outside, and you can hear the surf. What a wonderful home away from home! Another plus: the property manager (979 Vacation Rentals) is excellent. Really great communication from start to finish! Easy arrival/entry - no waiting around for any reason. The house is a short, easy walk to the beach. It's also close to the main road, so there is some traffic noise. On Sunday (the day I arrived), the beach was packed with cars, people, competing sound systems, and mild chaos. If that's your jam, you'll love it. The beach wasn't the cleanest, and it's not as spacious as the beaches in Galveston. I ended up spending my days hanging out on the deck instead of the beach, and I was perfectly happy there! FYI, the tap water in Surfside is brown and smells like sour salt. It was an unexpected (and offputting) contrast to how fabulous The Blue Haven is. I took plenty of distilled water for drinking and cooking, but even showering felt a bit icky. Also, as a solo female traveler, I felt unsafe at times in the general area. Surfside is a very small town and kinda rough around the edges. I'm not a timid traveler, but there were several moments when I was walking alone that I felt vulnerable. Just a heads-up for all the single ladies... If stuff like that isn't an issue for you and your family/friends, then I recommend renting this house in a heartbeat! While Surfside has its quirks, The Blue Haven is its own special paradise!

The house was in good shape. However, the couch is old and uncomfortable and should be replaced ASAP. Needs bedside lamps on both sides of beds and a small chest of drawers in each bedroom would be an improvement. Towel bars in bathrooms kept falling off the walls and shower curtains did as well.

House was excellent. We did have a problem with the cable TV not working (said connections needed tightening), and the smoke detector needing a new battery; it was "beeping" loudly each night and needed to be silenced. Other than those two small inconveniences, we really enjoyed our stay!

The house was a few steps down the road to the beach. We were walking distance to a restaurant and the liquor store. There weren't any baking sheets for the oven(I bought one and left it there). There also needs to be one chair in the living area. My friends didn’t like the cable selections, I don’t watch tv. Overall, the house was great and it was perfect. I had a great time. It met my expectations.

Love the cute little house and the walk with our dog along the endless beach and around the streets. Communication was great and fast. Unfortunately we got into the nightmare of winter storm no power no water and we had to leave from one hour to another. So sad.....

Blue Haven was perfect for our stay! You're practically on the beach and a short, 7-min walk to three different restaurants. The house is clean and bright and the WiFi was strong enough to let both of us work remotely. Hosts are awesome too- we loved our stay so much we asked if we could extend the stay by one day once we were there and they were able to accommodate us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property to anyone!

Loved the house for a quick stay by the beach! Very easy check in. Hosts and neighborhood were great and really easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend and will be looking at going back for future trips myself!

Great access to the beach. The neighborhood was quiet and not too busy. The house was nice and clean. Only down side was the ac worked in most rooms but struggled to cool master bedroom.
